OK CARE provides a series of health talks to different organizations including community centers, elderly centers, charities, non-profit organizations, private companies, etc. during the year. Physiotherapists and other healthcare professionals have delivered health information to the public. The seminars are diverse and include fun activities for people of all ages and backgrounds.
On June 30th, Shek Kip Mei Community Hal invited OK Care to participate in the "Osteoporosis, Sacropenia, Fall Prevention and Home Safety" sponsored by Zonta Club of Hong Kong Eastern District. More than a hundred elders came to the banquet and had a happy time together. Mr. Poon Tsz Long, Physiotherapist of OK Care, shared with the elderly about the health effects of sarcopenia and how daily living habits increase the risk of sarcopenia. He also introduced how to implement a high protein diet and the selection of different foods with high protein content. The physiotherapist also conducted a simple muscle strengthening exercise for upper and lower limbs with the elderly, so that they could enjoy the food and exercise their muscles at the same time.
During the seminar and exercise experience, the elderly not only gained a lot of health information, but also seized the opportunity to learn the muscle strengthening exercises instructed by the physiotherapist. The response was enthusiastic and we look forward to organizing other seminars and workshops with the Centre again.
