How to use?
• Diffuser, Candle, Plant, Spray, Bathing
Although there is limited research evidence on the effectiveness of aromatherapy, some studies have shown that aromatherapy might have health benefits:
For example --
Lavender: relieve stress, improve sleep quality
Tea tree: fight infections and boost immunity
Chamomile: improve mood and relaxation
Lemon: increase concentration and mental awareness
How scents help?
Scents are processed in the olfactory bulb, which has direct connections to the amygdala and hippocampus. These are the parts of the brain that provide emotional reactions and memories.
Sometimes aromatherapy is used as complementary therapy for the dementia patients. Because it is found that aromatherapy has impact on memory recall, e.g. rosemary, may improve cognitive performance and boost memory.
As dementia patients can show symptoms of agitation and aggression, using essential oils, particularly lavender, lemon balm may help reduce these symptoms, relieve anxiety and promotes calmness.
Note: Please consult your doctor or a qualified aromatherapist before starting any aromatherapy treatment or using any essential oil.
